Ways To Make Your Workplace More Fun This Summer
Anyone who works full-time can probably tell you that the summer months are often the hardest months to get through. Being cooped up indoors from 9 to 5 on a beautiful sunny day can be depressing, and it can sometimes feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to make plans after work. If you find you and your team stuck in a summertime rut, here are a few ways you can make your workplace more fun this season.
Have A Weekly Potluck or Cookout
Cookouts are extremely common during the summer months, so why not incorporate them into your office’s weekly routine? If your office has access to an outdoor space, consider purchasing or borrowing a grill and take your team outside for lunch! If you aren’t able to use a grill at work, try holding a weekly potluck lunch, where each team member contributes one dish. Potlucks are a great way to try new food and socialize, and your team will feel encouraged to mingle with each other. If you want to go a step further, you can challenge your team to prepare healthy meals for the potluck in order to align with any summer fitness goals they may have. Food is one of the best things about the summer months, so making it part of your office’s culture is something your team will love.
Take A Field Trip
Field trips aren’t just reserved for elementary school children anymore! Taking your team out for a day of fun will serve as a much-needed break, and you’ll have fun bonding outside of the office. Some local attractions may offer group discounts, so call around and try to find the best quote. If you can’t go to a local attraction, simply taking your team outside to a nearby park for a day of fun is a great way to get everyone out of the office and enjoy the warm weather. You can either use this as an opportunity to play some fun team building games or simply relax in the sun!
In-Office Fun
While it may not be realistic to treat your team to a day out every week, there are countless ways to make your office’s culture fun on a regular basis! One way you can do this is by allowing your team to dress more casually during the summer. Not only will dressing down feel more comfortable, but it will give your team the chance to wear clothes that reflect their personal styles. If your company has a strict dress code policy, then consider giving your team the option to dress down one day per week. You can also hold weekly contests in which the winning team member is awarded something small, like a gift card to a local restaurant or an extra vacation day. The key to making your workplace more fun during the summer is creativity, so have an open mind and know when your team deserves a break.
